Attention: This information will be used as general guidelines and may not be updated to meet the current requirements. Before you travel, contact the appropriate authorities for South Korea.
Key Requirements for Importing Pets to South Korea
Microchip: Pets must have a microchip that complies with ISO Standard 11784 or Annex A to ISO Standard 11785. No other form of identification is acceptable.
Rabies Vaccination and Certificate: Pets must have an original Rabies Certificate that states the microchip number, date of inoculation, and validity of the vaccination. The primary Rabies Vaccine must be at least 30 days old during export. Include the manufacturer's name, product name, batch number, and vaccine expiration date on the certificate. The certificate must have the vet's original signature in blue ink.
Rabies Antibody Titer Test: The titer test measures the level of rabies antibodies in your pet's immune system. The test must be done at least 30 days after the rabies vaccine is administered. The pet can travel to South Korea once a favorable result is received. The test typically takes 4-6 weeks to receive the results.
Health Certificate (APHIS 7001): Obtain an International Health Certificate (Veterinary Health Certificate for Export of Dogs and Cats from the United States of America to Korea) from a USDA-accredited veterinarian within 10 days of departure.
USDA Endorsements: The required documents need to be sent to your local USDA office for their stamp of approval. PetRelocation can provide assistance with this process.
