Pet Move of the Month: Usha Moves to the US

June's pet move of the month features Usha. She recently moved from the Netherlands to the United States and is loving her new home near the beach! Her owner Monique shared her experience with us below:

What brought about your move to Florida?

I was linked to your company by Aires, the global mobility company who supports me in the full transition and works with preferred suppliers. After our introduction conversation, I was very positively impressed by how personal this move for my dog was being cared for, and I felt really comfortable with PetRelocation handling the flight & move of Usha.

Did anything surprise you about the pet travel process?

I was positively surprised by the personal touch, and I absolutely loved the slogan "we take your friend wherever life takes you". All the people at PetRelocation have a pet themselves, and I could really sense the emotional part of the move (me being comfortable with her traveling) was the biggest focus area of PetRelocation (instead of logistics only) which really was so helpful for me to be at ease.

How did Usha handle the move and how is she settling in?

Usha has gone through the whole change cycle in 5 minutes -- going from cold, rainy Netherlands to sunny Florida with the beach in our backyard. I think she is the happiest dog ever.

What advice do you have for people who might be starting to plan their pet's move?

Usha wasn’t used to a crate, so through advice from PetRelocation we started to get her used to that 6 weeks before the flight so it was a safe haven once she traveled in it. We organized ourselves in such a way Usha arrived one day after our arrival so the pet’s arrival is not as stressful because you had a few hours to settle in, buy some food and so on.

How pet-friendly is your new city? Feel free to share the names of any places you've found! 

The US is extremely pet-friendly and especially Florida with lots of places to go with your pet. The beach area in Jacksonville is amazing, and we have made use of Bark Avenue for her to stay a few nights when we were traveling. They take care of your dog as their own as well.
