Pet Travel Question: Dog Travel to Brazil and Malaysia

I've lived in Malaysia for one year and I got my dog here five months ago. I'm planning to go to Brazil in December for 15 days and want to bring him with me. Are the rules for traveling the same since he is from Malaysia? Will I have problems entering back into Malaysia?

Hi Anna,

Thanks for the question. For this trip you will need to meet the pet import requirements for Brazil and then, when you return, those for Malaysia. Malaysia actually requires a quarantine for pets coming from Brazil, so it's not the easiest place to import a dog (even if you just left a couple of weeks before). Though it seems ideal to bring our pets wherever we go, it's not often as simple as we'd like. Sometimes, in certain situations, pets may be better off left at home with a trusted pet sitter.
