-Lufthansa's Animal Lounge, located in the Frankfurt airport, allows the streamlined passage of thousands of animals each year and provides a space for pets on a layover to take a break from their travel crate.
-Lufthansa doesn't just fly dogs and cats. Horses, insects, birds and more have also used the airline to get where they need to go.
-It's important to notify Lufthansa at least 24 hours in advance if you're planning to bring a pet with you.
-Dogs and cats can be brought in the cabin if the combined weight of the pet and the carrier does not exceed 8 kg (about 18 lbs).
-For in-cabin pets, you can use your own approved carrier, or a "pet box" may be available at the check-in counter.
-Pets traveling in the cargo hold (which is temperature-controlled) should be placed in an IATA-approved travel crate outfitted with an empty water dish.
-Prices will vary depending on the weight of your pet. The following chart sums up the costs:
-The costs for pets flying from Canada, Mexico and the US will be calculated as an additional piece of luggage.
-Pets can also fly unaccompanied via Lufthansa Cargo (PetRelocation often books flights this way for international customers). Contact us for more information about how to proceed with this option.
-For further information about flying with your pet, contact the Lufthansa Reservations Office.
