Most people have heard the fisherman's parable about starfish washed up on a beach, when an old man is throwing starfish back into the ocean. The fisherman doesn't understand how saving them one by one is going to make a difference, but the old man reminds him that it made a difference to the starfish he just threw back.
While we try to make a difference in people's lives -- and more often than not, I like to think that we do -- it is difficult to "save them all," continuing with the starfish metaphor. We are, after all, a business providing a first-class service with operating costs, which sometimes prevents every pet owner who wants to use our services from being able to afford our services.
That's why I was thrilled to see a tweet by one of our Twitter friends, @DogParkMiami, about a non-profit pet transportation service called Sky Ark. Sky Ark helps to fill in the gaps that we can't always assist with -- particularly in aiding rescue groups in need of low-cost or free pet transport.
I'm glad to see another company making a difference in the lives of pets and their owners. It's certainly a much-needed service, and the demand exists for all variations of pet transport companies!
