Each year we advise our clients about the possible roadblocks you could run into when traveling with pets around the holidays. Government closures and busy airlines are just a couple of things that might stop you from making your pet’s trip on time. If you’re moving to Australia, though, you have one more thing to consider.
Mickleham quarantine station is the only animal quarantine facility in Australia. That means all pets entering the country that require quarantine must spend their minimum ten-day stay in this state-of-the-art pet facility.
Mickleham is staffed by some of the most dedicated pet lovers in the world and just like everyone else, they occasionally need a break. As a result, the quarantine station closes for two weeks each year. This downtime gives the staff a chance to relax and allows the state-run facility time to restock, clean, and get ready for the new year!
So, what does this mean for your move down under? If you’re traveling with a pet, it means that the last day they may arrive and begin their quarantine is December 11th, 2020. The reopening will take place on January 4th, 2021, and pets from around the world may begin to arrive the following day.
If you’re planning your pet’s move this holiday season, or any time of year, make sure you’re prepared. Don’t leave it until the last minute. Send us your questions and get started today!
