How was your experience finding pet care in your new country? Did you have a hard time finding a vet, boarding facility, pet food, etc?
A word of advice about Qatar and dogs: it is not a good place to have pets here. We got threatened to have the police come to remove our dogs 2 days after behind in our compound and we had to find another compound accepting dogs, which can be challenging in a country where there is a shortage of houses. Nevertheless, we are now settled in a nice compound with a grass area (luxury!!). We didn't know before coming here that the Muslim religion does not tolerate dogs as they are considered uncleaned because of the way the clean themselves. Locals especially kids are not used to seeing dogs and just want to tease and throw things at them... We live in a compound with westerners so they are OK here. We had to board our girls for a few days and there is a great place in Al Khor called Pampered pets (http://www.ppkdoha.net/index.htm). Steve, the owner dropped off the girls to our house and the pricing is very reasonable : I paid QAR 90/day for the 2 dogs. I do not have a vet yet. I have not been able to find dog treats yet and I have been advised that, if I find some, I should buy the entire stock! There is a good website with some addresses as where to find dog food and accessories, but I haven't been there yet . I have been in the country about a month...
